Woman Watched Her Grandchildren for an Afternoon – After Stepping Out for 10 Minutes, She Feared Letting Their Mother Return

While babysitting my three grandchildren, I stepped outside for ten minutes and returned to a living room covered in flour. They said they wanted to bake their mother a cake—then I noticed adult bootprints leading from the back door.

I recognized their father’s damaged boot tread. My daughter’s ex-husband, Fabian, had secretly entered to take a folder containing evidence for their custody hearing.

Before I could get help, he appeared with the folder and a child’s backpack. He planned to take the children several hours away without telling their mother.

I called 911, kept the children in their bedroom, and waited until police arrived. Fabian left without them.

Later, the children revealed the truth: frightened by his hooded entrance, they had thrown flour at him. He then told Noah to lie about who had visited.

My daughter obtained temporary restrictions on unsupervised contact and arranged counseling. Weeks later, we finally baked that cake—this time, with everyone safe.
