My Parents Told Me to Marry Rich Instead of Becoming a Doctor—Seven Years Later, My Mom’s Letter Broke Me

💔 My Parents Mocked My Dream of Becoming a Doctor—7 Years Later, They Wanted Credit
At 20, I got into med school and ran to tell my parents. Instead of support, they laughed and told me to “just marry rich.”
No hugs. No pride. No encouragement.
So I moved out and did it alone—working multiple jobs, taking loans, surviving on little sleep and pure determination.
For seven years, they never checked on me.
Then, right before my White Coat Ceremony, they suddenly wanted to attend and celebrate “their daughter.”
I said no.
The ceremony was beautiful. I stood proud—but also lonely.
Later, my mom wrote a letter admitting her fear and regrets. She had followed my success in secret and was always proud.
It hurt… because fear still abandoned me.
I didn’t become a doctor because they believed in me.
I did it because I believed in myself. ❤️
