Grandpa’s Date… And Grandma’s Excuse!

Grandpa and Grandma always lit up when they talked about the old days they spent together.
One day, they decided to relive it—to make it “yesterday once more.”
They planned a date at the riverbank they used to visit when they were young. The next morning, Grandpa woke up at 6 a.m., rushed to the river, picked a big bouquet of wildflowers before sunrise, and waited for his sweetheart.
But Grandma never came.
He waited through the morning… the afternoon… even until sunset. Furious and hurt, Grandpa finally went home.
He burst through the door and found Grandma lying on the sofa, hugging her pillow. He tossed the flowers to the floor and demanded,
“Why didn’t you come to our date?”
Grandma buried her face deeper into the pillow and replied shyly,
“Mom didn’t allow me to go.”
