My Friends Ghosted Me After I Paid for Our $2,000 Weekend Trip – What I Did Next Made Them Beg for Forgiveness

Romy was thrilled to plan her group’s annual girls’ trip — a stunning lakeside cabin for $2,000, split evenly among eight friends. Everyone agreed to send their $250 share before the trip, but as the date neared, the excuses piled up — car repairs, credit card bills, “next paycheck.” By the week before, no one had paid, and Romy was out the full amount.

Angry but determined, she devised a plan. The night before the trip, she texted the group with fake excitement, pretending all was well. She arrived early, stocked the cabin with food and wine, then locked up and left — taking the keys with her. When her friends arrived, they found the doors locked.

As their frantic calls came in, Romy calmly texted from a nearby café: “I’ll come back once everyone sends their share.” Within an hour, payment notifications flooded her phone.

When she finally returned, guilt filled the air. Her friends apologized, realizing how unfair they’d been. Romy forgave them — but reminded them that friendship, like money, runs on trust and respect. What began as a ruined weekend became a powerful lesson they’d never forget.
