In a small rural parish in England, a priest lived alongside several nuns. One day, an older nun noticed that the church rugs were starting to wear out. She approached the priest and said, “Father, I think your rugs are in need of replacement.”
The priest thanked her but gently corrected her, saying, “Since you’ve been here a long time, you should probably call church property ‘our’ rugs, not ‘your’ rugs.”
A few days later, the same nun spotted that the hedge outside needed trimming. She went to the priest again and said, “Father, I’ve noticed that your… I mean, our hedge needs trimming.”
Once again, the priest thanked her and asked if she had seen his missing watch. She admitted she hadn’t but promised to keep an eye out for it.
Shortly after, the parish received word that the bishop would be visiting. Everyone hurried to prepare the church for his arrival.
On the day of the visit, the nun came rushing down the stairs, exclaiming, “Father! Father! I found your watch!”
The bishop smiled and asked, “How wonderful! Where did you find it?”
After greeting the bishop, the nun turned to the priest and said, “I found it under OUR bed.”
