My Wife Refuses to Spend Her Massive Income for My Parents’ Needs

My wife works two full-time jobs and earns six figures. I don’t work as hard, still “finding myself.”
Recently, she gave her parents money to buy a car. Mine got nothing. I lost my temper. She calmly said, “I decided to help the people who actually help us.”
Her words stung. My parents had never supported us; hers had sacrificed endlessly. Pride made me push back. “They’re still my family!” I shouted.
She slammed the table. “Weak? You make yourself look weak by refusing to grow up. If you want them taken care of, you earn it!”
That night, I realized I had to change—or risk losing her. The next day, I applied for jobs, worked warehouse shifts, helped at a mechanic, and freelanced nights. Exhausted but alive, I handed my first paycheck to her.
Her eyes filled with pride. “That’s the man I married,” she whispered.
For the first time, I understood: respect isn’t given—it’s earned. And I was ready to keep earning it, one day at a time.
