Doctor’s Last Conversation With His Father Revealed Before He Died at 40 in Red Sea Submarine Tragedy

Dr. Ravil Valiullin, 40, boarded the Sindbad submarine with his wife Kristina, 38, and their two daughters for a family vacation off the coast of Hurghada, Egypt, on March 21. What was meant to be a dream getaway quickly turned to tragedy when a catastrophic submersible accident claimed Ravil’s life.
Initial reports falsely stated that Kristina and Ravil had both died, causing confusion and heartbreak. However, it was later revealed that Kristina and their daughters were alive, having been mistakenly listed among the deceased. Sadly, Ravil was confirmed dead, one of six Russian nationals who perished in the disaster.
Ravil and Kristina were beloved doctors in their hometown of Urussu, Tatarstan. Kristina was a pediatrician, and Ravil an anesthesiologist-resuscitator. Their colleagues and community mourned the loss of the couple, describing them as “gold” and pillars of the healthcare system.
Ravil’s father shared their final conversation, recalling Ravil’s excitement about showing their children the underwater world—a chilling reminder of the tragedy that would follow.
