My Husband’s Coworker Embarrassed Us After Our Baby’s Birth – So I Taught Him a Lesson He Would Never Forget

I gazed at my baby son, Elijah, sleeping peacefully. After years of trying, miscarriages, and doctor visits, he was finally here. His lighter skin was normal for Black newborns, and I marveled at his perfection.
Oscar smiled, saying, “He’s got your nose.” I nodded. “And your chin.” We both remembered the painful journey to get here.
Two weeks later, Oscar came home angry. “Terrence at work has been saying Elijah isn’t mine because of his skin and hair.”
I was furious. “What?!”
Oscar reported him to HR, but the tension lingered.
A month later, Elijah’s skin darkened, and his hair curled. At a company event, I confronted Terrence, who’d spread the lies about me and Elijah. “Aren’t you the one saying I cheated?” I asked. The crowd went silent. Mr. Evans quickly handled it.
On the drive home, Oscar was upset. “You shouldn’t have done that.”
I responded, “I couldn’t stay quiet. No one gets to destroy our family.”
A week later, Oscar told me Terrence was fired. “Everyone’s talking about how you stood up for us.”
“I did what had to be done,” I said simply.
Later that night, I whispered to Elijah, “Always stand up for the truth, no matter what.” I knew I’d do it again if needed.
