After My Incident, My Husband Let His Mother Pack His Bags and Tell Me, ‘My Son Didn’t Sign Up for This’ – The Next Morning, They Demanded, ‘How Dare You Do This to Us?!’

After a drunk driver left me with a broken leg and fractured ribs, I returned home needing help caring for myself and our four-year-old daughter, Abbie.

Instead, my mother-in-law, Eleanor, packed David’s suitcases.

“My son didn’t sign up to be a nursemaid,” she said. David claimed everything was “too stressful” and left without looking back—even as Abbie cried after him.

I called my sister and a family attorney. We changed the locks, documented his abandonment, and filed for legal separation and temporary custody.

Then I discovered David had secretly transferred our money to Eleanor for nearly a year and opened a credit line with her. I immediately froze the accounts.

The next morning, they pounded on my door, demanding to be let inside. David blamed his mother and begged for forgiveness.

“You didn’t sign up to be a nursemaid,” I replied. “And I didn’t sign up to fund your mother.”

They thought they had left me broken, but they had finally set me free.
