When Love Has A Deadline

We tried to schedule our wedding four times, but my fiancé’s mom always convinced him to postpone. When I thought we finally agreed, he said we should wait three more years—his brother was still in college.
I realized he wasn’t ready to fight for us. I took a solo “trip” to a quiet beach to think. A letter he left via my mom confirmed it: he would let me go if I wanted. I felt emptiness, not relief.
I returned, gave him back the ring, and focused on myself—writing, running, and building the life I wanted. Over time, I met someone new naturally, and when we got engaged, I chose a wedding on our terms.
Three months later, we married—small, peaceful, full of laughter. No delays. No approvals. Just love.
Sometimes walking away is the only way to make room for the love you deserve.
