I Found Something Strange in the Yard—White, Round Balls. I Was Horrified When I Realized What They Were.

I noticed a patch of soil in my yard scattered with tiny white balls. At first, I thought it was debris—but the ground looked freshly disturbed.
Crouching closer, I froze. The balls were smooth, translucent, almost glowing. Soft, slightly springy… alive. Eggs. But whose?
Digging carefully, I uncovered dozens, packed beneath the surface. Inside, tiny dark dots—embryos. Online searches confirmed: large slug eggs. Bigger and more numerous than any garden slugs I’d seen.
That night, I barely slept. By morning, the patch had widened. Digging deeper, I found a hollow nest and thick trails of slime—and the soil was warm from within.
Pest control confirmed my fear: invasive slugs, capable of devastating gardens, and multiplying fast. I was lucky to find them before they hatched.
Even now, every time I step outside, I watch the ground… because sometimes the scariest things are silent, hidden just beneath your feet.
