I Went On A Date Thinking I’d Met Someone Special, But His Next Call Changed Everything
I went on a date that seemed perfect. He ordered the most expensive dishes and then suggested we split the bill. At first, I thought it was thoughtful—but then I realized I had paid my half in cash, and my card showed multiple pending charges totaling almost $700.
I rushed to the restaurant the next morning. The manager pulled security footage, and there it was: he had slipped my card off the table while I was in the restroom. The police were called, and it turned out he was already trying the same scam on another woman. He’d even been renting expensive clothes to look rich.
Thanks to my testimony, he faced fraud charges, and all victims—including me—were reimbursed. Weeks later, a letter from him arrived in jail, claiming, “You were the smartest one. If you had played along, we could’ve been unstoppable.” I tore it up and laughed. Now I trust my instincts—and the only thing he’s unstoppable at is sitting behind bars.
