My Wife Told Me Tо Abandon My Daughter and Move out for a Few Weeks — When I Found out Why, It Made Me Speechless

I’m Jake, 32, and my life revolves around my three-year-old daughter, Allie. She’s a total daddy’s girl — breakfasts, park trips, bedtime stories — we do everything together. My wife, Sarah, seemed fine at first, but over time, she started feeling left out.

One night, after putting Allie to bed, Sarah said, “You need to move out for a few weeks. Don’t tell Allie.” She claimed Allie needed to bond with her. I was shocked, but after hours of arguing, I agreed to stay at my friend Mike’s for one week — only if I could explain it to Allie.

Being away was torture. Every night, Allie asked when I was coming home. On the fifth day, I couldn’t stand it. I bought her a Happy Meal and went to surprise her.

When I walked into the house, I heard laughter — but it wasn’t Allie.
Sarah was on the couch with her coworker, Dan.

That’s when I realized the truth: she didn’t send me away for bonding — she sent me away for him.

Sarah tearfully said she felt lonely and left out. But betrayal has no excuse.

We separated. I moved into a small apartment nearby to stay close to Allie. We now co-parent — civil, but nothing more. Sarah joined a support group and her bond with Allie slowly improved. I’m grateful for that, but I can’t forgive her.

Every night, when Allie asks, “Daddy, will you always be here?”
I tell her, “Always.”
