My Neighbor Egged My Car for Blocking the View of His Halloween Display

so I Prepared a ‘Surprise’ He Won’t Forget

The morning before Halloween, I found my car covered in egg yolk and toilet paper. My three-year-old, Noah, asked if the car was “sick.” I didn’t have to guess—our neighbor Derek, obsessed with Halloween, had struck again.

When I knocked, he didn’t deny it. “You blocked the view,” he said. I walked away, determined to handle it properly. That night, I documented everything and filed a police report with repair estimates.

Two days later, Derek begrudgingly paid—and returned with a bucket and sponge to scrub the car clean. My kids watched from the window, laughing as the “skeleton man” worked.

I told Lily I wasn’t mad, just proud. Sometimes justice isn’t loud—it’s paperwork, calm words, and quiet dignity…plus a neighbor washing egg off your car while your kids cheer.
