My MIL Said My Daughter Was Not Really Family and Tried to Get Rid of Her, but She Regretted It Very Quickly

My mother-in-law never accepted my daughter Lily from my first marriage. Called her a burden. Said she wasn’t “real family.”
Then one trip left us no choice—no sitter, no backup. We had to leave Lily with her.
I hated it. Helena had always been cold. But we were desperate.
During the trip, she dodged every call. Refused to let Lily speak. My gut told me something was wrong.
When we returned, Lily was gone.
Helena calmly said she “did us a favor” and sent Lily to a tennis academy—without our consent. Called her a mistake. Said we could now start a “real family.”
We searched all night and found Lily at dawn, alone on a bench, clutching her bunny. She cried when she saw us.
“She said you didn’t want me anymore.”
I held her. “We looked everywhere, baby. You are ours. Always.”
That night, we went back to Helena’s door.
“You’ll never see her again,” I told her.
“I’m pregnant,” I added.
Her face lit up—until Marcus said, “She’s my second. And you’ve lost both.”
She glared, blaming me.
But the truth was simple: she showed us who she was.
And we chose love—over blood. Over everything.
