A mechanic was removing a cylinder head from the motor of a motorcycle when he spotted a well-known heart surgeon in his shop.

The surgeon was waiting for the service manager to check out his motorcycle when a mechanic called out to him from across the garage.

“Hey Doc, mind if I ask you something?” the mechanic said. Curious, the surgeon walked over. The mechanic stood up, wiped his hands, and gestured to the engine he was working on.

“Look at this,” he said. “I open up the engine, take out the valves, fix them, put everything back together—and it runs like new. Isn’t that a lot like what you do? So why is it that I earn so little, and you make the big bucks?”

The surgeon chuckled, leaned in, and said with a grin, “Try doing it while the engine’s still running.”
