My Brother-in-Law Belittled My Husband for Being a Teacher — Days Later, Karma Brought

My Arrogant Brother-in-Law Mocked My Husband’s Job—Then Karma Hit in the Most Perfect Way
Every year, my family gathers at my parents’ house for a reunion. It’s always heartwarming—until my brother-in-law Tom arrives. He’s a flashy lawyer who never misses a chance to brag. This year, he showed up late in a roaring red Ferrari, soaking up the attention as he boasted about his bonus and horsepower.
At dinner, my husband David, a humble high school teacher, shared a touching story about a student who earned a scholarship against all odds. The table fell silent—moved by his words.
Then Tom smirked: “That’s sweet, David. But you’ll never buy a Ferrari on a teacher’s salary.”
Even my sister added, “You really settled.”
David smiled and simply replied, “I love what I do. It’s not about money.”
I stayed quiet, but I knew karma would handle the rest.
And it did.
Days later, Tom’s Ferrari broke down on his way to a big meeting. No wallet, phone dying—he was forced to take the bus. In his expensive suit, sweating and stressed, he stood awkwardly… until he spotted David, calmly reading a book.
David smiled and waved him over.
Tom fumbled, tripped into someone’s lap, got scolded, missed his meeting, and showed up to work a sweaty mess. He lost the client—and a chunk of his ego.
At the next family dinner, Tom skipped the grand entrance. During the meal, he cleared his throat and said, “David, I owe you an apology. I’ve realized real success is living with purpose. And you do that every day.”
David smiled. “Thanks, Tom.”
Sometimes, all it takes is a broken Ferrari and a crowded bus to bring someone back down to earth.
