Sad news for drivers over 75, they will soon no longer be able to…

A tragic crash in La Rochelle involving an 83-year-old driver has reignited the debate: should seniors be retested? While age alone doesn’t define driving ability, factors like slower reflexes, vision changes, and attention can increase risk.
In France, drivers over 75 are involved in accidents at rates similar to younger drivers (18–24). Yet, there’s no mandatory retesting—licenses remain valid for life unless revoked.
So what’s the solution?
Regular health checks, refresher driving courses, and small adjustments—like avoiding night driving or switching to automatic cars—can make a big difference.
The goal isn’t to blame seniors, but to keep everyone safe while helping older drivers stay confident and independent.
