A Little Girl Saved a Puppy—But Three Years Later, She Gave Me Something I’ll Never Forget

Three years ago, I found a little girl shivering on a snowy park bench, holding a puppy she’d rescued from a dumpster.

“My mom says we can’t keep him. We barely have money for food,” she whispered.

I offered him a home, but she had one condition: “Only if I can visit. I don’t want him to think I left him.”

Every Saturday, she came to see Lucky. He grew into a happy, healthy dog who raced to the door whenever she arrived.

Then last month, she brought a photo of them together.

“We’re moving,” she said, trembling. “Mom said I could ask for him back. But… I don’t think I will.”

She hugged Lucky, whispered into his fur, and walked away.

We haven’t seen her since. Every Saturday, Lucky still waits by the door.
