Remembering Champ, Joe and Jill Biden’s Beloved German Shepherd
Joe and Jill Biden said goodbye to their beloved dog, Champ, on June 19, 2021, when he died peacefully at home at age 13. The German Shepherd had been a cherished member of their family since 2008, sharing their journey from the vice president’s residence to the White House.
Known for his gentle nature and loyal companionship, Champ brought comfort during difficult days and joy to everyday moments. In their tribute, the Bidens remembered a devoted friend who stayed close through life’s happiest and saddest times—a bond familiar to anyone who has loved and lost a pet.
