My Neighbor Stole My Electricity With a 50-Foot Extension Cord for Two Weeks. When I Finally Confronted Him, His Outrageous Demand About My Property Rights Left Me Speechless.

My Neighbor Used My Electricity Without Permission—Then Demanded Access to My Home
For two weeks, I kept finding an orange extension cord running from my neighbor’s garage to my outdoor socket.
When I confronted him, he shrugged. “It’s only costing you a few cents.”
After he did it again, I installed a lockable outlet cover. Then a note arrived accusing me of shutting down the “community socket”—on my property.
He demanded I leave my gate unlocked so he could let himself in and charge his e-bike inside my house when it rained.
I even offered to split the cost of installing an outlet on his property.
“Yours is closer,” he replied.
Now he’s telling neighbors I’m cheap and unfriendly.
Am I overreacting, or was locking my socket completely reasonable?
