My Fiancé Disappeared the Day Before Our Wedding with My Older Sister – One Year Later, He Showed Up at My

The night before my wedding, my fiancé, Grant, disappeared with my sister, Catherine—and the money meant to pay our wedding vendors.
Heartbroken, I moved away and slowly rebuilt my life. Eventually, I met Declan, a kind man whose actions gave me reasons to trust again.
Then, a year later, Grant appeared at my door holding a baby.
“Catherine left us,” he said. “This is Grace. She’s your niece.”
They were homeless, and he begged me to take her. Overwhelmed, I initially closed the door. But I couldn’t forget the innocent child caught in their betrayal.
With Declan’s support, I began caring for Grace. As Grant stopped showing up, we became the parents she needed. Years later, I gained full custody.
On Grace’s thirteenth birthday, Catherine returned, claiming she wanted to see her daughter. Suspecting she wanted money, I offered her a choice: come inside to see Grace or take an envelope containing $10,000.
She pocketed the money and walked away.
Two years later, Grace asked, “Mom, do you think she ever loved me?”
“I can’t answer for her,” I said. “But I love you. I always will.”
“Thank you for choosing me.”
I once believed that canceled wedding had defined my life. Instead, it was the little girl who taught me what family could be.
