A Teenage Girl Moved in with Her Dad Because ‘At Least He Listens’ – But Three Days Later, He Called His Ex-Wife to Say, ‘She Hasn’t Unpacked a Single Thing, and I Think I Know Why’

My 17-year-old daughter, Leah, moved in with her father after an argument about my rules. “At least Dad actually listens to me,” she snapped. Three days later, Colin called: “She hasn’t unpacked a single thing.”

When I visited, I discovered why. Leah was sleeping on a foldout couch in his office—the same room he had promised his partner’s daughter, Sophie, as a study space. He had told Leah she could move in while telling his partner the stay was temporary.

His conflicting promises left both girls hurt. When Leah asked for a real solution, he accused her of complicating things and suggested she return home.

“Mom, can you come get me?” she called, crying.

Before leaving, Leah told him, “Mom says no sometimes, and I hate it. But with you, I never know if yes actually means yes.”

Back home, she apologized and finally unpacked her suitcase. “Thanks for coming,” she said. “Always.”
