My 7-Year-Old Daughter and Her Dad Started Having ‘Private Talks’ in the Garage –
So I Set Up a Hidden Camera and Immediately Regretted It

Every afternoon, my seven-year-old daughter and my husband locked themselves in the garage. The radio went on, the door stayed shut, and when I asked why, they said: You’re not invited.
I trusted my husband—but the secrecy felt wrong. So one day, when he was out, I hid a small camera.
I braced for something that would shatter my family. Instead, he came back up with yarn and knitting needles.
Every day after that, I watched them laughing, fixing mistakes, knitting sweaters—one pink, one gray—with crooked letters: I have the best mom in the world.
They were planning a birthday surprise.
When they gave me the sweaters, we all put them on. I never told my husband about the camera. I unplugged it and put it away.
Now, when my daughter says, “Private talks in the garage, Dad?” I feel only warmth—and the sweater against my skin.
