Mom finally confessed a shocking family secret: I had an older brother, Gerard, whom she had given up for adoption. He had recently found her, left the money, and disappeared. Now strangers were watching our house.
When I met Gerard, he revealed he was an undercover police officer. The cash was connected to a criminal investigation, and he had hidden his identity to protect us. With the operation being dismantled, he returned to explain everything.
That evening, Mom reunited with both her sons, Gerard fixed the sink, and a frightening discovery became an unexpected family reunion.
