The Surprise Waiting in My Grandma’s Handmade Cardigan

When I turned 18, my grandma knitted me a red cardigan. It was all she could afford, and I only gave her a simple “Thanks.” She passed away just weeks later.

Years later, my 15-year-old daughter tried it on and found a hidden note in the pocket. It read, “One day, you’ll understand how much love is stitched into the things we give, even when words are hard to say.”

In that moment, I realized the cardigan wasn’t just a gift—it was my grandma’s love wrapped in every stitch. Watching my daughter wear it, I finally understood what I’d missed all those years ago and wished I had thanked her with all my heart.
