Why Does Your Watermelon Have Cracks Inside? Here’s the Reason You Should Know

Internal cracks or hollow spots in watermelon are usually caused by uneven watering or weather changes while the fruit grows. These are natural quality issues, not signs of spoilage.

The melon is often still safe to eat unless it has a bad smell, mold, or a mushy texture.

In most cases, cracks simply reflect how the watermelon developed—not that it’s gone bad.
