This morning, I woke up and decided to make fried eggs.

I froze when I spotted a strange white strand inside my egg, fearing it was a parasite or a sign of spoilage. After researching food safety sources, I discovered it was actually the chalaza — a natural protein strand that keeps the yolk centered.
Far from being a warning sign, a visible chalaza often means the egg is fresh. What looked alarming was simply a normal part of nature and a reminder that not everything unfamiliar is dangerous.
