Dogs sniff your private area because they use their sense of smell to gather information. Humans have sweat glands that release pheromones, especially in areas like the armpits and groin, which can reveal details such as age, sex, mood, and health. Since dogs can’t ask questions, sniffing is their way of “greeting” and learning about you.
While it can feel awkward, it’s natural behavior for dogs. If needed, you can gently redirect them with training commands like “sit” or “stay” and positive reinforcement.
