Comedian arrested for alleged drug possession during traffic stop

Iconic comedian Paul Rodriguez, 70, was arrested in Burbank, California after a routine traffic stop escalated into a search and alleged narcotics possession case, according to reports.

Rodriguez claims he was asleep in the passenger seat when officers stopped the vehicle and that the drugs belonged to a friend, who allegedly admitted ownership. He also says he was mistreated during the incident and believes it may have been racially motivated.

Authorities say he was cited and released on misdemeanor drug possession, and the case will be reviewed by the city attorney.

The arrest comes during a difficult period for Rodriguez, who recently lost a close friend and previously underwent major heart surgery.
