On a Saturday morning, Sarah and Mark began renovating their aging cottage. While Mark worked on the ladder, Sarah painted the walls. The steady sound of their hammering mixed with the occasional noise from their neighbors, the Martins, who had started their own renovations months ago. But the Martins’ progress slowed, and soon their construction stopped completely.
One afternoon, Mark received a call from Mr. Martin, sounding desperate. “I’m stuck under the floorboards. Can you help?”
Mark, uneasy, went next door to find the Martins’ house eerily silent. He entered the basement, where he found Mr. Martin’s hand emerging from an open hole in the floor. He tried to run but as he walked through the hallway he saw hundreds of human corpses.As Mark approached, his foot caught on something, and he froze when he saw a hand—not Mr. Martin’s—sticking out from beneath the floor.
As he pried the boards apart, a body emerged, tangled in wires. Mr. Martin appeared at the top of the stairs, pale and shaking. “I didn’t mean for it to go this far,” he whispered. “I thought I could fix it.”
Mark’s stomach twisted with dread as he realized the renovation was far darker than he imagined. The unfinished house now held a chilling secret, and the truth left his heart racing.
