My MIL Tried To Ruin My Pregnancy — But The Universe Had Other Plans

Overbearing Mother-in-Law, Unsupportive Husband, and a Pregnancy Breaking Point
During my twin pregnancy, my overbearing mother-in-law constantly criticized everything—from my cooking to my cleaning—while my husband dismissed my exhaustion as “hormonal.” When I finally set boundaries, things escalated fast. I overheard my husband siding with his mother, and soon discovered an email where she planned to take over my postpartum life, including moving in and controlling how I raised my babies.
Realizing my peace and mental health were at risk, I left and moved in with my parents just days before giving birth. I welcomed two healthy twin girls surrounded by real support, not judgment. That decision forced my husband to confront his behavior, set boundaries with his mother, and step up as a partner and father.
With therapy, accountability, and distance from toxic family dynamics, our marriage slowly healed. My mother-in-law eventually apologized, and we rebuilt a relationship based on respect—not control.
