A deadly bus crash on a mountainous road in southwest Bolivia has killed more than 30 people after the vehicle plunged nearly 800 meters into a ravine in the Yocalla district, according to police. Fourteen others were injured, including four children, with several victims reported to be in critical condition.
The accident occurred on the route between PotosĂ and Oruro, a region known for dangerous mountain roads. Police believe speeding may have caused the driver to lose control of the bus, making this the deadliest traffic accident in Bolivia so far this year.
Fatal road accidents are common in Bolivia, where poor infrastructure and hazardous terrain contribute to an average of 1,400 traffic-related deaths annually.
