An old Iranian man was proud of two things: his long, white beard and his ability to fall asleep instantly.
One day, his 3-year-old grandson asked whether his beard went under the blanket or stayed above when he slept. The old man didn’t know but promised to find out.
That night, he became painfully aware of his beard under the blanket. He lifted it over, then tucked it back in, then out again—over and over—until he spent the whole night sleepless.
The next morning, he cut his beard to chin length, much to his daughter’s delight, who had been hinting at it for months.
