Even with regular cleaning, cockroaches can still appear in the bathroom, especially near showers. They’re drawn to warm, damp areas, and drains provide the perfect environment.
A simple hack can help: a party balloon can act as a barrier to block bugs from coming up through plumbing. Cockroaches can squeeze through tiny drain openings, but a balloon creates a flexible seal while still allowing water to flow.
To use this method, remove your drain cover, cut a balloon into a stretchy tube, and fit it around the cover. When you replace the cover, the balloon narrows the opening, keeping pests out.
For best results, keep the bathroom dry, wipe surfaces after showering, and clean around the drain. Also, seal any cracks or gaps in pipes, tiles, or walls. Combined with these habits, the balloon trick can significantly reduce cockroaches and keep your shower cleaner and more comfortable.
