Why dying people shouldn’t be kissed

Dr. Viktor Ivanovik, a Moldovan doctor with a TikTok following of nearly 300,000, has sparked widespread discussion with his recent video on the risks of kissing deceased loved ones during farewells. His video, which has gone viral, highlights a crucial health concern: “Never kiss the deceased!”

Ivanovik explains that about nine hours after death, the body begins to decompose, releasing bacteria that can cause health issues. He points out that kissing the deceased can lead to a significant loss of smell due to exposure to these bacteria.

The video has generated a mix of reactions. Some viewers appreciate the health advice, noting they hadn’t considered the risks. Others, however, express emotional resistance, reflecting on personal experiences. One commenter said, “I kissed my father and would do it a million times over! I can lose taste and smell, he is my father!”

Ivanovik’s message underscores the need to balance cultural practices with health considerations. His video highlights the role of social media in raising awareness about important but often overlooked health issues.
