People Who Were Trapped in Their Own Horror Film

I got up around 2 a.m. to get a glass of water. The TV was still on. As I walked past, I thought I heard my daughter say, “Daddy, can you get me a blanket?” Half-asleep, I grabbed one and tossed it onto the couch without thinking. But as I crawled back into bed, it hit me—she was supposed to be at a sleepover.

Panicked, I ran back to the living room. The couch was empty. The TV blared a loud voice, and that’s when I realized I must’ve mistaken a line from the movie for my daughter’s voice. I woke my wife, told her everything, and she calmly reminded me our daughter was at a sleepover—and she had just forgotten to turn the TV off. It all added up, but even now, the memory still gives me goosebumps. My sleepy brain had completely tricked me.
