A Note from the Delivery Guy Made Me Install Security Cameras Around My House – I’ll Forever Be Grateful to Him

When I was too tired to cook, I often ordered food—and over time, my kids and I grew close to our regular delivery guy, Ravi. Always cheerful, he’d high-five the kids and ask about their day. But one evening, he seemed different—nervous, distant, barely saying a word as he handed me our order and rushed off.

Puzzled, I noticed a shaky message on the back of the takeout bag: “CHECK YOUR TRASH CAN.”

Heart racing, I sent the kids away and looked. In one bin, hidden under a blanket, were gloves, pliers, and a bottle of corrosive liquid—tools for breaking in. I called the sheriff immediately.

Officers later confirmed our neighborhood had been targeted by a string of burglaries, and the items matched others from recent crime scenes. I quickly had security cameras installed.

Days later, Ravi returned. When I asked why he hadn’t called the police, he admitted he saw two men at our trash and feared they’d seen him. Leaving that note was the safest way he could warn me.

Then, a motion alert from one of the new cameras changed everything. A man in a gray hoodie—linked to multiple break-ins—approached my trash, then froze when he saw the camera and fled. That footage helped the sheriff identify and track him down.

Two weeks later, Ravi showed up with a sunflower plant for the kids. We planted it beneath the camera—a living reminder of how a quiet act of bravery protected us.

Heroes aren’t always in uniform. Sometimes, they’re just kind souls with takeout bags and courage.
