The Truth About Liv

Every time I dated someone, they ghosted me. My best friend Liv always chalked it up to bad luck—until a mutual friend hinted Liv might be the reason. I brushed it off at first, but things didn’t add up. So I created a fake guy, “Aaron,” and told Liv we’d reconnected. A week later, I got a breakup text… from Aaron.
Only Liv knew he existed.
Then it happened again with a real guy, Daniel. He disappeared—until a friend told me Liv had messaged him, claiming I wasn’t over my ex and was seeing other people. When I confronted her, she said, “They weren’t good enough for you.” She called it protection. I called it control.
I blocked her that night.
Losing her hurt more than losing any guy. But without her in my life, I started trusting myself. I met someone new—Alex—and kept it private. Months later, he told me someone messaged him too, warning him about me. The details proved it was Liv again.
Eventually, I heard she tried the same thing with another friend, and it blew up in her face. When I ran into Daniel, he apologized for believing her lies. I forgave him—and moved on.
Alex and I are still together. And I’ve learned: not everyone who claims to care actually does. Sometimes peace comes from letting go of the people you thought would never hurt you.
