I ATTENDED MY HUSBAND’S OFFICE PARTY FOR THE FIRST TIME JUST TO SEE HIS OTHER “WIFE” THERE – HE GOT WHAT HE DESERVED LATER.

While watching a movie on my husband’s laptop, an email popped up inviting him—and his plus-one (me)—to a New Year’s white party. His company had never allowed plus-ones before, so I was excited. But when I asked if he’d go, he said he’d be working.
Curious, I decided to attend anyway. At the reception, when I gave my name, the manager laughed and said my husband was inside with his “real wife” — pointing to him kissing another woman.
Stunned and furious, I planned revenge—but karma struck first. The next morning, I got a call: my husband had collapsed and was in the hospital. When I arrived, the “other woman” was there too. He explained she wasn’t his wife but his business partner, Bianca, and he’d been pretending to be married to her at work to impress colleagues and secure investments.
He admitted lying to me to avoid conflict, but the public humiliation and betrayal stung deeply. Bianca pressured him to maintain the fake marriage, but he wanted out.
After discharge, he cut ties with Bianca, risking his career and losing a promotion. But at home, he changed—being more present, honest, and caring. Trust took time to rebuild, but he made consistent efforts, even inviting me properly to company events.
The experience was a hard wake-up call: no career gain is worth sacrificing honesty and respect. Our marriage isn’t perfect now, but it’s stronger and real—without secrets or pretenses. Standing up for myself and demanding respect saved us both.
