Death approached a man and said, “Today is your time.”
The man replied nervously, “But I’m not ready yet!”
Death responded, “Your name is next on my list.”
Thinking quickly, the man said, “Why don’t you sit down and have a meal before we go?”
Death agreed. The man prepared food and secretly slipped sleeping pills into it. Once Death fell into a deep sleep, the man quietly moved his name from the top to the bottom of Death’s list.
When Death finally woke up, he smiled and said, “You’ve been so kind—I’ll start from the bottom of the list today.”
