At a small parish in rural England there lived a priest, and several nuns.

One day, an older nun noticed the church rugs were looking a little worse for wear. She marched up to the priest and said, “Father, I think your rugs are about ready for retirement.” The priest smiled and said, “Thanks for the heads-up, Sister—but since you’ve been here so long, maybe try saying ‘our rugs’ instead of ‘your rugs,’ yeah?”

A few days later, the same nun spotted the overgrown hedge and again approached the priest. “Father, I mean our hedge is begging for a haircut.” The priest nodded and said, “Thanks again. By the way, have you seen my missing watch?” She hadn’t, but promised to keep an eye out.

Then came the big day—the bishop was visiting. Everyone was scrambling to get the church spotless. Right when the bishop arrived, the nun came flying down the stairs shouting, “Father! I found your watch!”

The bishop beamed, “Oh, wonderful! Where was it?”

The nun smiled and said, “Under our bed.”
