My Husband Joked About My Underwear in His Friends’ Group Chat – He Didn’t Expect What Came Next

I discovered something on my husband’s phone that shattered me and built a wall between us. For months, Tom and I had been pinching pennies to save for his dream sports car, with no room for personal indulgence. I sacrificed my own needs—no new clothes, makeup, or even underwear.
One evening, Joyce, my mother-in-law, saw how down I was and offered a surprising solution. “Leave it to me,” she said. That night, when Tom came home, he was stunned to find me in a stunning red dress, my hair and makeup done.
“Wow, you look amazing! Where did all this come from?” he asked, clearly shocked.
“Your car fund,” I replied, trying to stay calm despite the hurt.
Tom’s confusion quickly turned to anger as he realized what I’d done.
A couple of days ago, while tidying up, I picked up Tom’s phone to charge it, and a notification caught my eye. It was a photo of my underwear drawer—something I hadn’t expected to see. My curiosity got the better of me, so I unlocked his phone and found a group chat with his friends.
There, along with a photo of my plain, everyday underwear, was Tom’s comment: “Doesn’t remember marrying a granny.” His friends piled on with cruel jokes, mocking my underwear and making humiliating comments about me.
I was heartbroken and felt betrayed. I didn’t confront Tom right away because I didn’t want him to think I’d been snooping, but I couldn’t shake the pain.
The next day, over brunch with Joyce, I couldn’t hide my distress any longer. She noticed right away and I ended up telling her everything.
