My Husband Canceled Our 10th Anniversary Trip to Take His Mom on Vacation – So I Took Revenge in a Way He Never Saw Coming

I’d spent a year planning our tenth anniversary trip to Santorini, but the night before, Brian texted: “Change of plans. Mom’s upset. Anniversary trip is off.”
Stunned, I called him, but he was already boarding a flight to the Bahamas with his mom, leaving me with a non-refundable hotel and a broken heart.
I couldn’t let the trip go to waste, so I invited Liam, my best friend’s brother, to come with me. He agreed, and the next day, we flew to Santorini. It was liberating—an adventure I needed.
The texts from Brian came in, but I ignored them. By the end of the trip, I posted a picture with Liam, captioned, “Didn’t let a little change of plans ruin the adventure!” Brian’s angry texts flooded in, but I didn’t respond.
When I returned, Brian confronted me at the airport. I calmly told him, “I’m done being an afterthought. Next time you make plans, I better be part of the conversation.”
As I walked away, I felt a rush of victory—finally standing up for myself.
