The Night Before My Wedding, I Found My Mom on Her Knees in Front of My Fiancé—What She Was Begging for Left Me Shaken

The night before my wedding, I lay awake with anxiety instead of excitement. My thoughts raced—what if something went wrong? I tiptoed downstairs for aspirin but overheard my mother offering Zachary $20,000 to leave me for someone else.

Zachary agreed, and I ran back to my room, shaken. When he came in, he whispered, “I’m not leaving you. Your parents want me gone for someone rich, but I’m taking their money—and we’re leaving together.”

The next morning, I walked down the aisle in my wedding dress, but instead of marrying the man my parents had planned, I confronted them in front of the guests. “You paid Zachary to leave,” I said.

Afterward, I dropped my bouquet and walked out, where Zachary waited. “You did it,” he said, catching me in his arms. We got in the car, and I saw an envelope with $20,000.

Zachary smirked. “At least your parents bought us a nice honeymoon.”

As we drove away, I felt freer than I ever had.
