Lena checked her watch—late, again. She rushed down the hotel hallway, the scent of lilies reminding her of weddings, like her best friend’s from last week.
In the elevator, a man bumped into her. “Sorry,” he said, and they both froze when the elevator stalled. He joked about needing a date for a wedding, and despite the ridiculousness, Lena agreed.
At the wedding, Dylan was charming, but when his ex, Maya, showed up, Lena felt something stir. Later, Dylan confessed he didn’t want their time to end.
She kissed him, letting go of her doubts. “Does this mean you’ll stay?” he asked.
“Maybe,” she smiled. “But no more stuck elevators.”
“Deal,” he grinned.
