Entitled Mom Demanded We Stop Using Sign Language – Then Got Publicly Served by Waiter

A Mom Told Us to Stop Signing—Then a Waiter Stepped In
My deaf best friend and I were chatting in sign language at a café when a mother complained.
“Stop those hand gestures. You’re distracting my son!”
Our waiter stepped forward.
“They’re having a conversation. You’re the one disturbing them.”
As she prepared to leave, her son approached us.
“Can you teach me how to say ‘friend’?”
Maya showed him. He signed it back, smiling.
Later, the waiter brought cookies.
“My brother is deaf,” he explained.
We stayed, signing and laughing—feeling welcome again.
