Our Neighbor Treats Everyone Like Her Servants—So I Got Petty & Taught Her a Lesson in Patience

My Entitled Neighbor Honked for Our Parking Spot—So We Went Back Inside

Our neighbor Marge complained about everything, from our kids’ footsteps to our washing machine. But when my daughter tripped over her hallway clutter, she refused to move it.

Then we met her at the mall.

While we buckled our kids into the car, Marge honked impatiently for our parking spot. She’d stopped so close that I couldn’t reverse—and ignored my request to back up.

So I helped the kids out, locked the car, and told my wife, “We’re going back inside for pizza.”

Marge shouted. We kept walking.

After that, her complaints stopped, and she cleared the hallway.

Two weeks later, I told her she’d scared our children. Surprisingly, she admitted I was right.

Then she looked down at her takeaway bag.

“It’s lonely, ordering dinner for one.”

I didn’t regret setting boundaries. But suddenly, my difficult neighbor seemed a little more human.
