Woman Noticed Her Husband’s Wedding Ring Was Missing at His Funeral – A Week Later, She Saw It on a Stranger’s Hand
Henry never removed his wedding ring. Its two tiny stars honored the babies we’d lost during our 23-year marriage.
But at his funeral, his ring finger was bare.
A week later, I spotted it on a young man at the grocery store.
“That was my husband’s,” I said.
His face went pale. “Henry’s dead?”
Patrick, 18, had grown up in foster care. Henry had been helping him build a new life—and hoped we might adopt him. He’d given Patrick his ring as a promise that he wouldn’t abandon him, planning to introduce us before his sudden death.
Over the following months, Patrick and I built our own bond. Eventually, I adopted him.
He still wears Henry’s ring.
Later, he gave me a photograph with a message on the back:
“He promised I wouldn’t be alone. You kept that promise.”
