My 13-Year-Old Daughter Kept Sleeping Over at Her Best Friend’s – Then the Friend’s Mom Texted Me, ‘Jordan Hasn’t Been Here in Weeks’

My 13-year-old daughter said she was sleeping at her best friend’s house—until her friend’s mom texted: “Jordan hasn’t been here in weeks.”

When Jordan came home, she finally confessed: “I’ve been staying at Grandma’s.”

My husband had cut ties with his mother years ago after her cruel treatment of me. Now she’d moved nearby, approached Jordan outside school, and asked her to keep their visits secret. She was seriously ill.

“I just wanted a grandma,” Jordan cried.

We went to confront her together. She admitted she’d been selfish and apologized for involving our daughter.

My husband set firm boundaries: “No secrets. No guilt trips. Every visit goes through us.”

We agreed to rebuild contact slowly. Jordan remained grounded for lying, but now she can finally say, “I’m going to Grandma’s”—and tell the truth.
